Vaughan & Vaughan Announces Winner of 2023 Personal Growth Through Leadership Scholarship

Autumn Chassie receives $2,500 to dedicate toward her continuing education.

LAFAYETTE, IN, February 10, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Lafayette, IN, February 10 – Vaughan & Vaughan applauds University of Notre Dame 1L, Autumn Chassie, for her considerable leadership experience and dedication to her community. The firm awarded Chassie with $2,500 in financial support after evaluating her application for the firm’s 2023 Personal Growth Through Leadership scholarship.

The Personal Growth Through Leadership scholarship required applicants to discuss the leadership positions they’ve held and how those positions have changed their lives. Students had to complete essays of between 500 and 1,000 words elaborating on the leadership challenges they faced and the strategies they used to overcome them.

Chassie candidly discusses the domestic abuse her mother endured throughout her childhood, as well as her mother’s vivacity in the face of that mistreatment. Chassie emphasizes her mother’s continued commitment to Chassie’s education as the driving force behind her desire to pursue an advanced degree.

She also notes that her experience witnessing her mother’s mistreatment drives her to offer a voice to abuse survivors in need of legal representation. Her years as a resident assistant (RA) saw her put that protective desire to work defending students suffering from sexual violence.

Chassie intends to translate her leadership experience into a career in Big Law, though she intends to pursue opportunities to provide legal support to survivors and other injured parties. She’s in the process of completing her 1L year alongside service to Ronald McDonald House and Notre Dame’s Exoneration Project.

Vaughan & Vaughan congratulate Chassie on her tenacity in the face of adversity, as well as her dedication to compassionate leadership. The team hopes that the $2,500 scholarship award will help Chassie pursue her professional goals with less financial stress.
