GED Lawyers Creates $2,500 Award Honoring Late Judge Edward Rodgers, Palm Beach County’s First African American Prosecutor and Judge
BOCA RATON, FL, February 25, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — GED Lawyers is offering The Legacy of Judge Edward Rodgers Scholarship to a deserving college student for the 2023-2024 academic year. The $2,500 award is available to incoming and current students who are pursuing higher education at an accredited college, university, or graduate school. It can be applied toward a student’s tuition, room and board, books, and other expenses.
The firm created the award to honor the life and legacy of Judge Edward Rodgers, the first African American prosecutor and judge in Palm Beach County and Riviera Beach City Council member. Rodgers died in 2018 at age 91.
Applicants should explain in their scholarship essay what Rodgers’ legacy means to them and how his contributions to communities and overall society continue to make a difference today.
GED Lawyers encourages students from all areas of study to apply. Students applying for The Legacy of Judge Edward Rodgers Scholarship should provide the following information with their scholarship essay:
– 3.0 or higher GPA
– An unofficial high school or college transcript
– Proof of U.S. citizenship or right to work
– Proof of attendance and/or acceptance to an accredited college
