Since purchasing the thriving eStore, queer owners have embraced “aggressive inclusivity” of all queer and non-binary communities and dancers of all sizes and abilities.
SALT LAKE CITY, UT, December 23, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — Shay Williamson was the first ambassador for PoleActive.com, representing the aerial arts apparel e-store at dance competitions across the country. When the company went on sale two years ago, she and her partner purchased it, merging their love of activewear and pole fitness. Today, they are celebrating two years of ownership with a push to welcome even more people to the pole fitness community.
Shay is an international Pole Champion, instructor, and judge. She and partner Bennie Miles purchased the pole fitness clothing company when the previous owner stepped away to spend time with her aging parents. “She made us an offer, and it just felt right. We love the uniqueness and inclusivity of the pole and circus communities, and we cannot wait to help grow and cultivate them even more,” said Shay.
Shay and Bennie also own Dew Point Products, a line of pole grip aids, and Kairos Pole & Aerial Fitness Centers in their home state of Utah. They are looking to expand the PoleActive inventory to include more types of circus and aerial arts apparel as well as swimwear.
While circus arts may have been considered a “fringe” form of fitness in the past, Shay and Bennie are part of the movement to bring it center stage.
“Whether it’s pole or acrobatics or aerial silk, these are beautiful art forms with so many health benefits,” said Shay. “Participants are trying new moves, growing their body confidence, and cultivating creative expression. Circus arts are among the most empowering forms of fitness out there. They can be sensual or sporty, and they’re for everyone — from seasoned dancers and competitors to novices who are just looking for a fun, new way to get in shape.”
PoleActive.com sells a variety of circus and aerial arts apparel, including pole fitness shorts, tops, legging, and shoes. It is known for its accepting community, and as a queer-owned business, Shay says PoleActive sends an important message. “PoleActive is a safe shopping space for anyone. We have tried to be aggressively inclusive of all queer and non-binary communities as well as dancers of different sizes and abilities. From our inventory to the models we feature on our website, our message is that pole fitness is for everyone.”
